Nothing’s permanent in show business. Some time ago, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series had persuaded Salman Khan to do an item number in Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Kajra Re…’ in an effort to boost the prospects of this Pooja Bhatt directed entertainer.

But after agreeing to allot dates for this special appearance, Khan now refuses to go ahead with it.

Reason: Kumar wants Khan to cut down on his price for the film he was planning with the actor to be directed by Anees Bazmee.

According to a source, Khan is unwilling to compromise and the project is now hanging in balance.

Equations change every Friday. If a movie works, things only get better. If it doesn’t, expect the worst. With Karzzzz proving a failure at the box-office, there’s talk that Studio 18 has dropped the Satish Kaushik - Himesh Reshammiya project Hey Gujju.

“That’s completely untrue,” Priti Shahani of Studio 18 clarifies.

But there can’t be smoke without fire?

“We were keen to make the film, but all of us weren’t happy with the way the script had shaped up. That’s when we decided to go for a fresh subject altogether. We’ve immense faith in Satish and Himesh’s abilities, so there’s no question of parting ways. We’re definitely working with them, but it’s a new subject,” Priti reveals.

Thousands of young singers would give an eye and tooth (and probably their night’s sleep too) just for an opportunity to sing for AR Rahman. But Himesh Reshammiya isn’t one of them. Of course it’s another story that he isn’t young and many would even argue about his credentials as a singer.

But it did come as a surprise to us when we read in the papers today that he has no inclination to sing for the maestro. Mumbai Mirror has quoted Rahman as saying, “Himesh’s voice and the attitude with which Himesh sings is just apt for (a particular) composition. I haven’t spoken to Himesh as yet but I will be talking to him very soon”

Interestingly when the reporter told Himesh of Rahman’s plans, he turned down the offer very diplomatically. “I don’t sing for any outside banner (where I don’t act). I would instead requese Rahman saab to give music for one of my films where I am the actor and singer,” he told the paper.

Guess what’s the edge that our nasal singer-turned-hero, Himesh Reshammiya has Himesh Reshammiya over Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman?

The answer is simple: A head for economics. It’s recession time and Himesh has realised that to survive in the industry, he needs a lot of films to keep him floating through the bad times. And the best way to go about it, is to reduce the ‘bundle’ that other heroes are asking for.

So, these days, Himesh has cut his price. And to top it, he gives free music, as an added bonus. And this has worked wonders. Suna hai producers, both big ’n’ small are lining up outside the Himesh’s door. And HR is laughing all the way to the studios.

Rumours on Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann continue to pour in. RGV already has a mega line up of stars for Rann, including Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal, Riteish Deshmukh, Mohnish Behl, Manisha Koirala, Rajat Kapoor, Sudeep, Gul Panag, Raima Sen and Rajpal Yadav.

Now, some media buffs have already started speculating that Rann has got another surprise actor: Himesh Reshammiya. Himesh had reportedly gone to meet RGV at his Oshiwara office after hearing that Rann is his next biggie in the making.

The grapevine says the director told him ‘No’. But RGV was very impressed with Himesh’s enthusiasm and so is now trying to work things out if there is any role for the actor which can be sketched out in his film.

Rann’s hidden treasure, if gossip mongers are to be believed, comes in the form of Mallika Sherawat. However, what role she has got to play in the film is something which only RGV will be able to tell us.

In the meantime, another Bollywood biggie is also said to have been roped in for this mammoth project: Abhishek Bachchan. All you Sarkar and Sarkar Raj fans can once more see the two Bachchans together on screen.

 So, Bollywood’s bad boy Salman Khan has enemies almost everywhere. In his recent appearance at a reality TV show, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ Salman amused himself by taking a dig at his ex-protégé, Himesh Reshammiya. And, this one was undeniably very entertaining!

The bitterness of the past was very much evident on the ‘Sa Re’ sets where Salman Khan accompanied by his ladylove Katrina Kaif had come as guests to promote their upcoming flick ‘Yuvvraaj’.

At first Sallu made a dig at Himesh about his much-identified nasal twang of singing, Himesh subtly ignored the remark.

Salman appeased almost everyone on the sets with his timely one-liners and gigs except Himesh, who absorbed all the sarcastic blows mostly with a smile.

Later, when as a routine Himesh began to comment on his ‘Rock Gharana’ contestants, Salman kept interrupting him and kept on passing comments. Even then Himesh had chosen to be calm and and responded by praising Salman and acknowledging the star’s hand in his success.

Well, that’s some patience, ‘hats on’ for Himesh!

Here’s what the lad had to say about Sallu, Salman Bhai does it because he knows I won’t answer him back.

Whereas Sallu kept at the trend of teasing Himesh time and again. When Pratibha, one of the contestants, asked whether the empty seat next to him was for his beloved, Salman retorted saying, My beloved? Arre woh toh Himesh hai

And then came another counteract,Arrey Himesh, tune kitne dhun churaein hain abhi tak? to which an irritated Himesh said, Sir, kyon meri naak kata rahe ho? Maine bas ek hi dhun churaya tha, ‘Santana ka…’ bas uske baad maine kaan pakad liya

Salman also told the other judges on the show, Himesh’s nasal accent is a put-on, he never sang like this when he used to work with me.

Well, that Salman Khan for you!

Himesh Reshammiya dropped in at Ram Gopal Varma’s Lokhandwala Complex office on Friday evening.

The meeting happened a day after Varma put up the cast of Rann on his blog. And Reshammiya might be playing an important part.

Reshammiya apparently wanted to play a role in Varma’s movie. Later, they were spotted outside the building, continuing with their discussion.

It is learnt that Varma was impressed with Reshammiya’s frankness and reciprocated his enthusiasm. But there’s no role suitable for him yet. It remains to be seen how an appropriate character for him can be worked out, says our source.

As of now, Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal, Gul Panag, Raima Sen, Manisha Koirala, Mohnish Behl, Rajat Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav have been finalised.

Although Varma denied the story, Reshammiya replied via a text message: Ramuji narrated a solo hero subject to me which I loved. But the dates and modalities have yet to be finalised. We have not even discussed Rann.

It was one debt that Himesh Reshammiya would gladly forever repay. The actor-music director-singer paid an ode to millions of his rickshaw-driver and cabbie fans in a concert that was a curtain- raiser to Bhushan Kumar’s Karzzzz at Mumbai’s Andheri Sports Complex Oct. 12.

A star-studded performance, the show hosted by Mona Singh and Cyrus Broacha opened with Vineet and Akriti Kakar singing.

It was a season for black. Riya Sen in sensuous black set the stage afire with a medley of Tere liye, Laagi chhoote na, “Junoon and Iss duniya mein (Karzzzz). Amrita Arora in black-and-silver danced to Mirchi, Tandoori nights and Jumme raat. Neha Dhupia in a jet black figure-hugging dress performed to Tera tera tera surroor, Aamin, Shakalaka boom boom and Zaraa jhoom jhoom. Amisha Patel rocked in a black-and-silver combo again to Soniye, Janab-e-jaaniya and Jhalak dikhla jaa.

Tulsi Kumar in an electric blue outfit performed a medley of Mohabbat ki from Aksar, Tum saanson mein, Afsana banaake, Hai tadap, Tere naal and Tere bin chain na aaye to thunderous applause.

The Karzzzz curtain-raiser followed and then it was time for a colorfully-decorated auto-rickshaw entry with Himesh Reshammiya taking centre stage. A lot of kids joined him and sang along in some songs.

Bhushan Kumar then felicitated Himesh Reshammiya with a Platinum Disc. A visibly-emotional Himesh acknowledged that Bhushan was one man who first believed in him and gave him the break he strived for.

Bhushan was joined by his director wife Divya Khosla Kumar, Shweta Kumar, the heroine of Karzzzz, Tulsi Kumar, Vinod Bhanushali and director Ajay Kapoor and the rest of the team who made the concert happen.

The Karzzzz curtain-raiser concert was hosted by T-Series and Star Plus and produced and managed by Carving Dreams Live, a division of Carving Dreams Entertainment. The concert will be telecast on Star Plus Nov. 9.

Himesh Reshammiya’s Karzzzz has released and he feels it’s time to take a break and treat his family (his parents, wife Komal and son Swayam) to a holiday. Himesh says, “I have taken a 15-day break for the first time in five years. I return and start shooting for the last schedule of Kajraare from Nov 4. My family has accompanied me on my shows in Amsterdam but you can’t call that a holiday.”

Himesh adds, “I started my holiday yesterday. I will do no work in these 15 days. I want to spend some time with my family - especially my parents. I have either been shooting or recording constantly the last five years and today I am tired and it’s time for a much-deserved break. I have been getting lots of compliments for Karzzzz. Ram Gopal Varma said he loved my performance and intensity and Mallika Sherawat said she loved the masala kitsch of Karzzzz.”

When quizzed about the destination he says, “I haven’t decided where I will go but most probably, it will be Europe. But first, I will be going with my family to Nathdwara on the outskirts of Udaipur for Shrinathji’s darshan. Shrinathji is our family deity and we go there four times a month.”

Mentally, he’s already back in the work mode, “After these 15 days are over, I will also compose some cult songs for my films- Kajraare, Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke, A New Love Isshtory and Hhey Gujju.”

Music composer and singer-turned-actor Himesh Reshammiya will perform live at a concert in Amsterdam.

A year after he first performed at the Heineken music hall, Himesh is set to take the stage again at the venue where few celebrated international stars like Akon, Norah Jones, Pink Floyd, 50 Cents, Beyonce and Robbie Williams have performed.

This would be Himesh’s first concert after the release of his second film as actor, Karzzzz , for which he has got good reviews.

Himesh, who is presently on a 15-day break from work with his family, will perform songs from his latest release and will give the audience at Amsterdam sneak previews of the songs he is composing for his upcoming films.

The singer has struck a deal with movie producers according to which he will compose songs for the films he acts in.

Himesh presently has a good number of films in his line-up. He is doing Kajra Re , A Love Issshtory , Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke and Hhey Gujju .

He will resume the shooting of ‘Kajra Re’ from November 4, after he returns from a much-deserved holiday.
